Britney Spears 'X Factor' Rumors Are 'Nonsense,' Simon Cowell Says

Simon Cowell is clearly feeling better — after missing <a href="/news/articles/1687133/x-factor-judges-performances-fighting.jhtml">"The X Factor" auditions in Kansas City, Missouri,</a> due to a bout of bronchitis — and he's talking <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a>.Cameramen from <a href="http://www.x17online.com/celebrities/simon_cowell/simon_cowell_says_britney_spears_not_unstable_claims_he_is_video_061412.php" target="_blank">X17</a> caught up with Cowell while he was riding in his town car in Beverly Hills, and they found the oft-testy reality-show judge and music executive to be in a particularly good mood. Cowell addressed a variety of tabloid rumors regarding Spears — namely that she's had some issues on set and that she's shaping up to be one of the tougher judges.<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Britney Spears Explains Why She Wanted To Be A Part Of 'X Factor'" id="vid:769620" width="415" height="255"></div>When a cameraman asked whether "Britney's too unstable" to judge "X Factor," Cowell responded, "No, she's not unstable. I'm the one who's unstable! She's working out great. All these reports that we've fallen out are nonsense. She's doing a great job."Cowell's car then pulls away, but again comes to a stop in traffic, allowing the paparazzi to continue his questioning. Asked whether Spears was his favorite judge, Cowell said, "There's only two girls," referring to Demi Lovato, and went on to jokingly admit that he is his own favorite of all time. "Yeah, I'd say Simon Cowell is a great guy," he quipped. "Very good looking."Pressed further about Spears, Cowell offered more praise for the pop singer. "Like I said, she's been amazing. She's really taking time to learn how to do this," he continued. "She's got her confidence up. Once people give her a chance, I think people are really going to get her. It will be a big surprise. She's a tough judge."As tough as the famously direct Cowell? "Private Practice" Announces Current Season Will Be the Last

After the departure of Tim Daly in May, and Kate Walsh announcing that the sixth season would be her last, "Private Practice" has decided to close up shop at the end of the current season.

Show creator Shonda Rimes announced the decision on Friday (October 19) via her Whosay account, stating, "I'm sad to say that Private Practice's run will end after episode 613 this season. There was a lot of discussion and debate but, in the end, the guys at the network and the studio and I all decided that Private Practice was reaching its finish line. Creatively, we are all extremely proud of the show and especially proud of this season -- which you will all soon discover is a creative renaissance. I can't wait for you to see it."

She expressed her bittersweet feelings about the ending, adding, "It's heartbreaking to end. Truly. I feel so lucky to write for these characters and tell these stories and I truly feel this show has taught me so much as a writer. And there's a family here, of crew and cast, people who have bonded over these past five and a half seasons. It's rare for a show to go for more than 100 episodes and we are incredibly proud to have been such a show. And we're grateful to all of you for spending time with us for an hour every week for the last 6 years. It's meant the world. Thank you."

The ABC series premiered back in September 2007, as a spin-off of the hit ABC medical drama "Grey's Anatomy."

On Thursday (January 7), the U.K.'s Royal Mail unveiled a series of 10 new stamps, honoring the most iconic album covers of the past 40 years.The albums featured in the new series are the <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="515">Rolling Stones</MTVNLINK>' Let It Bleed, <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="993">Led Zeppelin</MTVNLINK>'s IV, <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="973">David Bowie</MTVNLINK>'s The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="503245">Mike Oldfield</MTVNLINK>'s Tubular Bells, <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="977">The Clash</MTVNLINK>'s London Calling, <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="267">New Order</MTVNLINK>'s Power, Corruption and Lies, <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="758">Primal Scream</MTVNLINK>'s Screamadelica, <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="1118">Pink Floyd</MTVNLINK>'s The Division Bell, <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="1041">Blur</MTVNLINK>'s Parklife and — the most recent album on to make the cut — <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="1111141">Coldplay</MTVNLINK>'s A Rush of Blood to the Head.Meant to honor "the most potent graphic images of modern times, many of which have provided a visual soundtrack to people's lives," the series is the end result of a lengthy research process by the Royal Mail, who looked through thousands of album covers by British artists before deciding on the final list. And, during a Wednesday night BBC Radio broadcast, it was revealed that the queen herself actually approved each design.Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page — who helped design the cover for IV — was on hand to celebrate the release of the stamps and recalled the mysterious nature of the album's iconic imagery."Almost 40 years after the album came out, nobody knows the old man who featured on the cover, nor the artist who painted him," he said. "That sort of sums up what we wanted to achieve with the album cover, which has remained both anonymous and enigmatic at the same time."Of course, any great honor is befitting of an equally great contest, so, on the same day the stamps were made available to the general public, Coldplay decided to give one of their Rush of Blood stamps away. In a message on their official site, the band held a contest to send one lucky fan "a letter using a Coldplay stamp, postmarked with today's issue date.""We visited our local post office earlier today and bought some of the Coldplay stamps," the message read. "Very nice they are too."

11-year-old died Saturday from heart failure after he was pulled off of life support, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Kile Glover, stepson of singer <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher Raymond</a> and biological child of ex-wife Tameka Foster Raymond, died Saturday morning (July 21), according to Channel 2 Action News.Kile was taken off of life support Saturday morning and died from heart failure according to a family friend, weeks after the 11-year-old was involved in a tragic <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1689206/ushers-stepson-declared-brain-dead-after-jet-ski-accident.jhtml">Jet Ski accident</a>. Kile was declared brain dead two days after the July 6 accident, and the family struggled with the decision to remove him from life support hoping for a turn in his condition."We know God's in control, and are leaning on our faith in Him and His word at this most difficult time," the family told CNN in a statement weeks ago. "We firmly believe in the power of prayer and ask that you all continue to pray and lift Kile up, as it's the best way we can all support him now."Earlier yesterday Tameka tweeted a photo of Kile alongside his younger brother Cinco (Usher V).Glover and a second victim, a 15-year-old girl, were struck by a Jet Ski while floating on an inner tube in Atlanta's Lake Lanier. Both children were airlifted to the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston pediatric hospital. The girl is reported to have suffered from a cut on the head and a broken arm, while Glover took the brunt of the trauma to his head.Atlanta's radio personality DJ Greg Street sent out a tweet earlier this morning where he expressed support for Tameka, Usher and Kile's dad Ryan Glover. "Lil RG is an Angel now, Ryan, Tameka, Usher & the whole Glover Family we gotta make him proud," he wrote.The man driving the jet ski has been identified as 38-year-old Jeffrey S. Hubbard, a family friend. At this time the police have determined that no drugs were involved, and no charges are being pressed.Kile is the son of Tameka Foster, the ex-wife of singer Usher Raymond, and Atlanta TV executive Ryan Glover. Foster has three children from previous relationships prior to her marriage to Usher.

Less than a month away from the mega-popular franchise's finale, Summit Entertainment released a new TV spot for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" on Friday (October 19).

The new footage dubbed 'Epic Finale' offers fans another glimpse at the film's biggest stars including Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson - who was photographed catching a departing flight out of LAX Airport in Los Angeles hours after the clip's debut.

Back to the sure-to-be box office blockbuster, the final installment of the Stephanie Meyer book based story picks up "after the birth of Renesmee, as the Cullens gather other vampire clans in order to protect the child from a false allegation that puts the family in front of the Volturi."

"In the old days we would have called this selling out, but it's a good way to spend a Sunday."He was probably one of the few who were surprised, because Raising Sand, which won five trophies at Sunday night's show, is in many ways the perfect <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/grammys/">Grammy</a> album. It features two respected veterans, a critically lauded producer, some sandpaper-and-velvet vocals and a baker's dozen of time-tested standards.<div style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; float: left;"><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:338316" width="256" height="223" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashVars="configParams=instance%3Dnews%26vid%3D338316" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></div>You're probably familiar with Robert Plant from his <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="993">Led Zeppelin</MTVNLINK> days, and you might be aware of producer T-Bone Burnett's work on the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack (it won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2002). And if you don't know who Alison Krauss is, she possesses a haunting set of pipes and is one of the meanest fiddle players in the world. Oh, and she's won 21 Grammys, more than any other female artist and the seventh-most in history.Really, she's the key to Sand's success, and not just because of her voice (or her fiddle playing). She and Plant first met in 2004, at a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tribute to legendary bluesman Leadbelly, and the former Zeppelin man was amazed by her knowledge of American Roots music — so much so that they began kicking around the idea of recording an album together. Three years later, Sand was released.And while Plant possesses the more famous voice, the album's finest moments radiate from Krauss. Whether she's getting bluesy on Little Milton's "Let Your Loss Be Your Lesson" or entwining with Plant's husky voice on songs like "Please Read the Letter" and Roly Salley's winsome "Killing the Blues," she more than carries her end of the bargain.And perhaps that's also due to producer Burnett, who handpicked the 13 songs the duo cover on Sand. His arrangements are sparse — giving the two voices ample room to breathe — yet dense, warm and crackling at the same time. It's a testament to his work that he's often given just as much billing as Plant and Krauss on the project ... and it's certainly justified.To date, Sand has sold more than 1 million copies, heaped tons of acclaim and actually earned a Grammy last year — "Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On)" took home the award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals.One expert was surprised not by the album's success, but by the fact that it's actually quite a good album."At first, the album seemed like a vanity project. ... Two names, clearly a one-off record, didn't have to be any good, you know?" New York Times music critic Jon Caramanica said. "Led Zeppelin fans would buy it because of Robert Plant, Alison Krauss would get a check. But it actually turned out to be a really thoughtful, really good record. It must be black," she said, noting that when she met with perfume designers they had to make sure it sprayed on clear. "It must be enticing. " She added, "I'd really like you to order a drink, maybe kiss the person you came with that evening, or rediscover something about your past that makes you feel even more brave."She explains in the issue that sometimes she doesn't just feel brave in her music, but also in her real life. And, despite her extremely high profile, she says she likes to "feel a little irresponsible and act like I'm 19."
